Reverse Osmosis System in SKID for Water Treatment!
O GRATT Skid Reverse Osmosis System is a compact, automated and high-efficiency solution for water purification, designed for industrial applications that require high quality standards.
Reverse osmosis is a technology developed since the 1960s, based on the use of semipermeary membranes which allow water to pass through, retaining dissolved salts, organic contaminants, bacteria and other particulates. This process is able to remove more than 99% of dissolved solids, ensuring high purity water for various applications.
The main advantage of the skid system is its modular and pre-assembled configuration, as shown in the image, allowing quick installation, space reduction and ease of operation.
How the Reverse Osmosis System works
The system works by applying pressure to the feed water, forcing it to pass through the membranes.
The process can be summarized in steps:
- Raw water is pumped at pressure greater than osmotic pressure
- Undergoes pre-treatments to remove larger solids
- It targets semipermeable membranes
- A fraction of the pre-filtered water crosses the membrane giving rise to the permeate
- Contaminants are retained in the other fraction, forming waste
The system generates two flows:
- Permeated: high quality treated water
- Reject: concentrated with salts and impurities
The permeate flow rate is adjusted according to parameters such as temperature, pressure, conductivity and recovery rate.
Operational changes such as a drop in flow, increased pressure or conductivity indicate possible conditions such as fouling, fouling or microbiological growth.
GRATT Reverse Osmosis Skid Differential
The system supplied on a skid integrates all components into a single structural base, ensuring standardization, ease of installation and operation.
The skid is composed of:
- Low and high pressure pumps
- Pre-filtration system
- Chemical dosing systems
- Pressure vessels with membranes
- Industrial piping and valves
- Control instrumentation
- Automation Dashboard
- CIP System
This configuration allows the system to be delivered practically ready for operation, reducing field assembly time and installation errors.
Operating Conditions and Care
To guarantee the durability of the membranes, the feed water must be properly conditioned.
A critical point is the water dechlorination, as chlorine can oxidize membranes, especially in conditions of alkaline pH, high temperatures or the presence of metals such as iron.
Proper control prevents:
- Inlay (scaling)
- Organic foaming
- Microbiological growth
- Loss of system efficiency
