DISC DEWATERING PRESS

Disc Dewatering Press for Sludge Dewatering!

A GRATT Disc Dewatering Press is equipment developed for the continuous dehydration of sludge from water treatment plants (ETA), industrial effluents (ETE) and sanitary sewage.

Its operation is based on separating the sludge into two fractions: a liquid, which returns to the treatment system, and a solid, with reduced moisture content, facilitating transport and final disposal.

It is a modern, compact and efficient solution, ideal for plants seeking to reduce sludge volume with low energy consumption and high operational reliability.

How does it work?

The dehydration process occurs continuously and automatically, divided into well-defined stages:

Initially, the system prepares the polymeric solution, where the polymer is dosed into treated water in a controlled manner, with continuous and automatic stirring, ensuring adequate homogenization.

Next, the sludge is pumped to the mixing chamber, where it receives the polymer solution dosage. This process promotes the formation of larger flakes (coagulation), essential for improving the efficiency of solid-liquid separation.

After conditioning, the sludge goes to the dewatering zone, where a helical shaft guides the material through a set of fixed and movable discs. As the sludge advances, the pitch of the helicoid decreases, gradually increasing the internal pressure.

This increase in pressure forces water out through the openings between the discs, while the sludge is compacted until it reaches its final dehydrated form.

The extracted liquid returns to the process for treatment, while the dehydrated sludge is discharged for appropriate disposal.
