The Parshall Gratt Trough is a flow meter for open channels and gravity flow, widely applied in water treatment plants (ETA), sewage treatment plants (ETE), industrial effluents and sanitation systems.
Designed with standardized dimensions, it provides continuous measurement, accurate and reliable flow rate, including in liquids with suspended solids or raw effluents. It can also act as a quick mixer, favoring the dispersion of coagulants in the treatment process.
How does it work?
The equipment directs the flow through a narrow throat, accelerating the fluid and raising the level upstream. The height of the water depth is related directly to the flow, allowing instant reading using a graduated scale or level sensors.
The model is identified by the throat width, in inches, ensuring hydraulic standardization and repeatability in measurements.

Made from GRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester) or Stainless Steel, it offers high mechanical and chemical resistance.
In PRFV, the interior has a smooth finish with isophthalic gel coat and UV protection, reducing fouling and increasing durability. Reinforced structure with ribs and upper aluminum tie rod, ensuring rigidity and ease of installation.

Sizing
The hydraulic design considers: channel depth, maximum and minimum flows, upstream and downstream width, allowable head loss and predictions of future expansion.
