System with high performance and varied application!
O GRATT Drying System was developed for the thermal drying of sanitary and industrial waste, as well as various by-products of animal and vegetable origin. It is a robust and efficient solution for reducing moisture, volume and weight of sludge and waste, adding value to the treated material and optimizing logistical and operational costs.
After mechanical dehydration, the waste can be used to generate thermal energy through burning, production of organic fertilizers, supply for feed and other industrial applications. Drying systems are supplied partially or completely, depending on the customer's needs and the characteristics of the process.
Drying and vapor removal process
Dehydration occurs through direct contact of the product with the heated surfaces of the dryer shaft and body. The evaporated water is removed through hoods installed on the top of the equipment.
The steam inlet and condensate outlet are located on the product discharge side. Internally, the dryer is equipped with a scraping system that prevents deposition of materials between the rings, maintaining thermal efficiency and operational stability.
The control of gases generated during the process is carried out through exhaust, cyclone and absorption tower, reducing emissions and ensuring environmental compliance.
Drying system setup
The GRATT Drying System can be composed of:
- Reception hopper;
- Screw conveyors for feeding and extracting the product;
- Exhaust fan for suction of gases and vapors generated inside the dryer;
- Cyclone for fines separation;
- Absorption tower for final gas washing.
The layout of the equipment is defined in a personalized way, considering the layout available in the industrial plant, ensuring efficient integration with previous stages, such as sludge dehydration and effluent treatment systems.
Main applications
The GRATT Drying System is widely applied in:
- Blood and fish meal industry;
- Tanneries;
- Paper and cellulose industry;
- Textile industries;
- Water Treatment Plants (ETA);
- Sewage Treatment Stations (ETE);
- Refrigerators;
- DDG processing.
Its versatility allows integration with industrial effluent treatment, sludge dehydration and by-product recovery systems.
Strategic solution for volume reduction and waste recovery
The GRATT Steam Drying System is a strategic solution for industries looking to:
- Significant reduction in sludge volume;
- Optimization of transport and final disposal;
- Energy use of waste;
- Greater environmental control;
- Operational reliability.
With applied engineering and complete integration into the industrial process, the system contributes to production efficiency, cost reduction and environmental compliance.
Gratt steam dryer technology
The GRATT dryer consists of a circular structure containing one or two rotating shafts, to which rings of tubes arranged vertically and parallel are welded. This design provides a concentrated heating surface, offering maximum evaporation capacity in a compact design.
The sludge is fed at one end and travels through the interior of the dryer while being agitated and mixed by fins attached to the periphery of the rings, ensuring continuous contact with the heated surfaces.
Heat transfer occurs through the steam contained in the jacket and shaft, being transmitted through the metal wall to the sludge. The system operates with indirect heating, that is, the product does not come into contact with the heat transfer fluid, ensuring greater sanitary control and final quality of the dried material.
The equipment operates with steam between 8 and 10 bar as a source of thermal energy.
